Today I played a training game against the Exchange Variation of the Caro-Kann. And my opponent managed to play 4 imprecise moves in the first 6 moves. I was better straight out of the opening.
I built on my advantage and didn’t have too much trouble controlling his passive pieces and the whole board. I started getting into trouble while we were in the most complicated stage of the middlegame. All my pieces were better and I had no weaknesses (he had 2), but I had a hard time finding a plan with little time on the clock and in such a complex position.
Soon after I blundered into an endgame which was just equal. Soon after that I gave the endgame away even though it was all zeroes. What a patzer I am sometimes…
