Today I played the seventh game of the new training cycle and the goal to reach 2100 on lichess classical by the end of November. This time the goal is thought through more thoroughly, I have enough time, and I will be analyzing all the games in detail before playing a new one.
Before this game my stats were:
Games played: 6
Result: +4 =2 -0
Rating: +24
Rating until goal completion: 2089/2100 =11
This game I played Kuros, a 2170 lichess classical, and a 1620 FIDE (very underrated!) player, against who my score is dreadful. Before this game he was leading 6 Β½ β 3 Β½. He told me that heβd like to be white because he was preparing a new opening. I said no, but with random colors, he ended up having white anyway. The opening he was preparing was the Chigorin!
I know little or nothing about it and about how to play against it. I played against it once and won, but it was a 1600 player (well, much worse than Kuros, that is, even though their rating is similar). I hope you learn something from this one!
