Today I started another training cycle. It will last until December 1st. My goal is to reach 2100 on lichess classical (again). I failed the first time, but this time I have more time, and I will take the games much more seriously and play relaxed and ready, as if they were real tournament games.
The first game was an Exchange Slav in which my opponent played a sound variation which I thought was losing. He weakened his queenside by playing Bf4 and e3, leaving b2 and the diagonal towards his king unattended. That is a theoretical line, but itβs really easy to make a mistake and blunder material.
Here is the game:
1. d4 d5 2. c4 c6 3. cxd5 cxd5 4. Bf4 Nc6 5. e3 Qb6 6. Qd2 Nf6 7. f3 Bf5 8. g4 Bxb1 9. Rxb1 e5 10. a3 exf4 11. Kf2 fxe3+ 12. Qxe3+ Be7 13. Ne2 O-O 14. g5 Nh5 15. Bh3 g6 16. Rhd1 Rad8 17. b4 Rfe8 18. Qd3 Bxg5 19. b5 Na5 20. Rg1 Bh4+ 21. Ng3 Nf4 22. Qf1 Qxd4# 0-1
