A very interesting training game in the Karpov Caro-Kann which finished with an instructive opposite colored bishop endgame.
Today I played a game which was equal from start to finish. A calm Caro-Kann in which neither side had a chance to go for an advantage in the middlegame.
We ended up trading everything off and entered an opposite colored bishops endgame in which the evaluation was of course 0.00. But… Only with good play (not even perfect). I made a very serious mistake of putting my king on a light square (color of his bishop), and allowed him to win. He could have won with a simple check! He didn’t see that, fortunately, and I managed to correct my mistake and draw.
A very instructive endgame in which I played for an “auto-draw” and my opponent fought for a win! You should learn from his play in this game. I played like a coward and a patzer in the endgame.
