In this video I am analyzing an attacking game played by 15th World Chess Champion Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand vs Chinese chess Grandmaster Ding Liren! In the quiet Giuoco Pianissimo Anand goes for a bishop sacrifice on h6 and then launches a strong attack! As Anand explained, he had learned its strength three years ago when he got a similar position against Hikaru Nakamura in St. Louis.
“I wasn’t even sure how strong it was but it doesn’t matter, it’s Armageddon—let’s get it over with!” said Anand. “In this time control I will not pretend that I calculated everything.” During the attack Anand made several inaccuracies and once Ding Liren failed to use his chance and start a counterattack Anand won the game very easily! In the end of the video as usual you can solve the daily puzzle!
