Coordinating the pieces, making them work together is harder than one might think. One of the keys to do that is to focus on advancing them by means of looking for threats, ways to attack your opponent. And the author of this course, IM Valeri Lilov, teaches how to do that by showing an illustrative example – a game played between Anatoly Karpov and Mark Taimanov in 1983.

In this video, IM Valeri Lilov says “The secret to any position is not just making sure that you’re activating your pieces, but also about connecting them, coordinating them; the ability to have things working well by making your pieces work together.” So, there are actually 3 parameters here: 1. Piece Coordination 2. Space Advantage 3. Piece Activity.

These 3 go hand in hand, and they complement each other very well. But how to do that? Watch the video lesson and learn!
