In An Epic Battle Vachier-Lagrave Manages To Beat Nakamura
December’s Titled Tuesday with 353 players was the third-largest Titled Tuesday that chess.com had ever hosted.
French chess grandmaster Maxime Vachier-Lagrave began with seven wins. His most dramatic game was in the eighth round where he faced his old rival Hikaru Nakamura. By going for Grunfeld defense, MVL soon got a slightly preferable position, managed to squeeze maximum of the position, and although in the end with an inaccurate move could have nearly spoil everything, but as Nakamura missed his chance, failed to find the line with a perpetual check, with an epic queen sacrifice Vachier-Lagrave won the game!
