Without a doubt, when it comes to chess traps we often refer to tactical traps, this is the kind of trap that most of us want our opponents to fall into in our games.

Also, when you find yourself in a desperate position, then posing traps to your opponent can save you from the disaster.

But one thing to always keep in mind is that the traps must be subtle. If you set up an obvious trap, then your opponents will avoid it easily.

But if you prepare a well-hidden trap, with moves that seem normal, then it will be much easier to step on the stick.
