How do you punish 1.h4? ⎸Road to GM, Game 13

Globan vs Tomic, Kadas Opening
2018 Zagreb Championship, Round 4, 06/07/18

I faced a 150 rating points higher rated opponent in round 4. I saw that he plays h4 on move 1 (more often than not) and I had to prepare for that. The problem is that that’s almost impossible since I don’t know which setup he will go for. I decided to plan out a system which would enable me to enter a reversed Maroczy bind position (pawns on f5 and d5). Miraculously I managed to get exactly what I wanted in the middlegame.

I began to lose my opening advantage soon after that though. My attacking pressure weakened and my opponent managed to improve his position and finally develop despite losing several tempi in the opening. The game became equal and we maneuvered for a long while. Once again I made a crucial mistake and got a lost position. I oversaw that he can get a pawn break in and he was winning. Somehow I managed to draw. A 100 move game; endurance is key:D
