Sam totalled an impressive 8.5/11 in the tournament (a near 2900 performance!) and advanced his world rating to 2700+ at the same time. Sam’s final scoreline stands out: six wins (four of them with Black!) and five draws without a single loss.
The tournament went right down to the final round, with Fabiano Caruana piling on the pressure with a win.
