Wesley So – Fabiano Caruana, Petrov’s Defense C42, Cozio (Lasker) Attack
2018 Chess Candidates Tournament, Round 8
Fabiano Caruana was the leader after round 7, and he is still in clear first after this game! Him and Wesley So played an unusually exciting Petrov’s Defense in which Wesley took a lot of risks, ended up losing the exchange, but managed to draw eventually.
Fabiano now stands a real chance to win the Candidates tournament because he had the black pieces twice in a row now, and with only six rounds to go hi will play white in 4 games! If he manages to keep playing this precise we might see him challenge Magnus Carlsen for the title in a few months!
