Mamedyarov beats Kramnik with engine strength chess ⎸2018 Candidates, Round 6

Shakhriyar Mamedyarov vs Vladimir Kramnik, Queen’s Gambit Declined, Exchange Variation, D35
2018 Chess Candidates Tournament, Round 6

Mamedyarov continues his brilliant attacking play in round 6! He played a game with almost no mistakes against Kramnik. It was an often boring Exchange Variation of Queen’s Gambit Declined and Mamedyarov played it very instructionally. He managed to exploit and capitalize on every single minor mistake his opponent made. He accumulated his advantage, gained the initiative, and finally managed to go a pawn up and gain a completely winning position.

He is now in first place (sharing it with Caruana) just before the half way mark of the Candidates Tournament, and he stands a great chance at the title. He has proven to be a worthy adversary to the world champion Magnus Carlsen. Let’s see how he does in the remaining eight rounds!
