Nakamura’s risky play in the Sicilian Dragon pays off

Hikaru Nakamura plays with no fear against Duda in an exciting Sicilian Dragon.

He took risks in several key positions and it paid off with interest, since Duda was unable to react well enough.

Game from round 5 of the Tradewise Gibraltar 2018. After 10 rounds, the tournament had a 7-way tie for first place (Nakamura, Le Quang Liem, Rapport, Vachier-Lagrave, Adams and Aronian). Only four players went through to the semifinal playoff.

Aronian ended up winning the playoff eventualy making him the sole winner. Perhaps not the most just tournament system, but a seven way tie is too much as well.
