What is it that holds talented club players back from real chess improvement? More often than not, it’s the small mistakes they don’t even know they’re making. And it’s not their fault, these slight errors usually seem perfectly logical – until they’re explained properly.

This Saturday (6th August) IM Valeri Lilov is going to show you how to play better chess by making a few small adjustments to your chess thinking. This is a 1 hour webinar, free for iChess followers.

One of the reasons club players struggle to improve much further is they’re already “good at chess”. Experience has shown that they know how to win in certain positions and know what a good move looks like. For instance, in a blitz game, club players will automatically move their pieces to central squares, occupy open files and make threats. This is second nature.

However, it’s this same knowledge that blinds club players to even stronger moves. Because we know a certain move is theoretically good, we find it difficult to see the subtle weaknesses of this move compared to a less obvious one.

During this training, IM Valeri Lilov will demonstrate how we can use examples from GM play to deepen our understanding and change the way we select our moves, leading to long-term chess improvement.

This will be a hugely useful webinar for all ambitious players. With IM Valeri Lilov’s insights, you will understand how the winners found their moves and how to use the same ideas in your own games.

If you’re serious about getting better at chess but don’t have much time to spend on study, our weekly webinars will give you the best return for your time. Real insights, real improvement, every week. And they’re free!
