Andrei Volokitin has a peak FIDE rating of 2725 and wins against the likes of Magnus Carlsen, Hikaru Nakamura and Mamedyarov. He is also an expert on playing both sides of the Sicilian Defense, Najdorf variation!

The Najdorf variation is considered the Rolls Royce (or Cadillac) of chess openings. Incredibly sharp, double-edged and full of rich, complex positions, the Sicilian Najdorf was the favorite of both Bobby Fischer and Garry Kasparov.

After the opening moves (1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 a6), White still has a large number of options. To play the Najdorf as Black, you need to know what to do regardless of what White plays.

So we teamed up with GM Volokitin to bring you a new and exclusive DVD, “Mastering the Sicilian Najdorf”. Over the course fo 3 hours, GM Volokitin teaches you how to play both sides of the opening with 8 different lines, namely 6.Bg5, 6.Bc4, 6.Be2, 6.Be3, 6.f4, 6,f3, 6.h3 and 6.a4.

In this preview, Andrei demonstrates his win over GM Areshchenko in the 6.Be2 line, a favorite of Anatoly Karpov’s.
Watch as White systematically controls d5 by exchanging off the Black pieces that influence it, with the result that the d6 pawn stays weak and is eventually won. Then GM Volokitin restricts Black’s counterplay in an instructive manner before demonstrating great piece coordination to overcome Black’s defense.
