In the video “New Improvements in Opening Theory” by GM Roman Dzindzichashvili, we see new analysis of the Accelerated Dragon variation of the Sicilian Defense – a variation that modern theory has previously shown to be tough to play for Black.

However, with the new improvements that Roman has found, he shows all of the tactical tricks and traps that White can easily fall into if he is not careful.

With the key move a5 after Bb3, Roman proves that White has difficulties if he is stubborn and doesn’t adapt to Black’s new ideas. Black is able to steer the game into new tactical territory, something that White will probably not be ready for if he has not studied ahead of time.

What tactical traps does Black have at his disposal? How does Black develop a ferocious attack in key variations? If White tries to hold onto an extra pawn, what moves can Black take to make White pay for his mistake? Watch the video to find out!
