The Evans Gambit is one of the most aggressive chess openings that you can play with the white pieces, immediately sacrificing a pawn to obtain a dangerous initiative from the early opening. The Evans Gambit (ECO Code C51) has been employed by legendary Grandmasters such as Garry Kasparov, Paul Morphy, Hikaru Nakamura, Adolf Anderssen, Misa Pap, and more – proving that it is indeed a reliable opening weapon with the white pieces. The Evans Gambit is famous for rapidly sharpening play as white sacrifices a pawn on move 4 after 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 Bc5 4. b4!? with the idea that black will lose time capturing this pawn while white gains a dangerous lead in development and opens lines to attack.
