The Candidates Tournament kicked off today to see who will play Anand for the World Championship later this year. Eight of the top players will fight over the next 2 weeks to showcase their skills and endurance against other worthy opponents.

The first matchup was between Aronian and Carlsen, the #3 and #1 rated players in the world. Both sides played rather cautiously, somewhat expected for round 1. Be sure to check out http://www.thechesswebsite.com over the next couple of weeks for more commentary of the tournament.
