GM Merab Gagunashvili is a strong Grandmaster at 2590 FIDE, widely feared for his straightforward and aggressive style. GM Gagunashvili´s outstanding chess career features many impressive tournament wins, beginning with a silver medal at the World Junior Chess Championship in 2001. GM Gagunashvili has since won the national championship twice in Georgia (2004, 2010) and has achieved a FIDE rating over 2660! In the following chess video, GM Gagunashvili explains one of the most dangerous openings around – the King´s Gambit! The King´s Gambit is extremely difficult to play for both sides, so it is a real treat to pick the brains of such a strong and experienced grandmaster to get a better grip on the theory in this complicated opening.
