0 Pieces Developed is Bad. Develop! | Road to GM, Game 95

The second round from the Split Open. I played a lower rated opponent in the Caro-Kann. He played the opening poorly and lagged in development which gave me a big advantage.

2019 Split Open, Round 2, 08/05/2019, T. Mindoljevic (1544) vs S. Tomic (1920), Caro-Kann

The Swiss system is merciless. I played a 2400 in round 1 and a 1500 in round 2. So basically, you have to lose and then you have to win. The situation will normalize from now on hopefully. Today I’m playing a 2150, finally a normal game!

In this game I must say I had an easy time and my opponent let me win. He didn’t develop normally, nor did he compensate for that in any way. I had an advantage which I decided to convert in an easily winning endgame.
