2016 Tal Memorial – Ian Nepomniachtchi vs Evgeny Tomashevsky

This is a round 1 game from the 2016 Tal Memorial Chess Tournament between Ian Nepomniachtchi and Evgeny Tomashevsky. What would come from a Scotch Mieses variation at the the Supergrandmaster level? As it turns out, a chess miniature! This game only lasts 23 moves before one side throws in the towel. What did the 10th Tal Memorial witness exactly out of the sharp Scotch, Mieses variation? Observe just how quickly a position can crumble out of the opening.

I’m a self-taught National Master in chess out of Pennsylvania, USA who was introduced to the game by my father in 1988 at the age of 8. The purpose of this channel is to share my knowledge of chess to help others improve their game. I enjoy continuing to improve my understanding of this great game, albeit slowly.
